Gaiety Theatre & Cafe, South Ayrshire Council
The Ayr Gaiety Theatre is a historically significant Category B listed building and much-loved local theatre which had been closed in 2009 and lay empty and in disrepair until our 2 phase refurbishment.
The newly designed and converted theatre has flourished since its re-opening and has once again become a successful cultural venue within the Ayrshire Region playing host to an annual pantomime as well as seeing many famous faces playing both the theatre and studio venues housed within the facility.
The newly converted Café Bar has had rave reviews by local bloggers and critics alike and is regularly sold out on show nights.
The first phase of this project was successfully completed on behalf of South Ayrshire Council and allowed the council to sell on the property to be run by the newly formed Ayr Gaiety Partnership who now successfully run this historic venue and deliver multiple theatre and studio performances throughout the year and run the complimentary theatre bar and café for additional income.
Phase 2 consisted of the addition of a black box contemporary studio space and general refurbishment of the main theatre and changing facilities and our services on both phases included the following:
Works included:
- Full Feasibility and Concept Design
- Architectural Design
- Interior Design Services
- Statutory and Listed Building Consents
- Space Planning
- Full Conservation and Heritage Services
Both phases were completed to extremely tight timescales to coincide with panto season and were both delivered on time, to a very high standard and on budget and have allowed the theatre to flourish into the popular Ayr venue that it always was.
