Strathallan Care Home, Allan Water Developments
This Design was undertaken on behalf of Allan Water Developments and was to provide a new 60 Bed Private Residential Care Home in Bridge of Allan, Stirling.
The site was positioned within an existing residential location and as such was designed to try and reduce the impact of the mass of this building utilising 4 individual bedroom wings, each housing 15 bedrooms over two storeys and included a further rear service wing which housed the plant room, kitchens, laundry and staff facilities. Each bedroom wing contained a dayroom, dining room, servery and visitor toilets.
A limited palette of materials was utilised to reflect the existing residential properties. The use of contemporary materials and detailing combined with sympathetic massing help create a pleasing domestic architecture, which avoided feeling institutional and was well received through the planning process.
This 60 bed care home facility was designed to meet the Care Inspectorate standards and included a variety of indoor and outdoor communal spaces to provide residents a variety of meeting and social spaces.

The works were completed on time and on budget on once completed it was fully occupied within months of opening.
